Chicagoland Stop #1
1st stop on the Chicagoland tour…Prairie State College!
The bus rolled up to Prairie State College on a crisp Chicago morning ready to make things happen.
Prairie State College, located in Chicago Heights, was the first stop on the Chicago tour sponsored by the
Coleman Foundation.
The event was opened by the President of Prairie State College, Dr. Radtke. Our speakers, Demetrius
Walker from Texas and David Gardner from Chicago, addressed an auditorium of eager to learn students
and Chicago Heights community members from the Illinois Worknet Center. Demetrius expressed his
interest in a new wave of entrepreneurship called “edu-preneurship” and David enlightened audiences
on the success of his venture accelerator, ColorJar. Joining the two gentlemen on the panel were local
entrepreneurs, Josh Studzinski of Focused Online Marketing Inc. and successful realestate mogul Tony
Mitidiero.
Prairie State’s Divisoin of Community and Economic Development brought several vendors to share
local entrepreneurial opportunities. Prairie State’s goal is to increase awareness of their entrepreneurial
curriculum on campus in hopes to create future generations of successful business leaders.
After the event, dozens of students requested more information from our speakers and panelists
and several mentioned that the event inspired them to take the next action steps towards creating a
successful business. One lucky speaker even got a hand written note telling him how he had changed this individuals life
Now THAT is inspiration.
Nothing yet.
