Sarah Farzam
Sarah Farzam, the mama bird. She started Bilingual Birdies at the ripe old age of 24 by passing out fliers in the park. She began with one location, three kids (two of which were her twin nieces), and a whole lot of heart. With the help of some friends the company has grown to 40 locations with a staff of nearly 20 that educates 1,700 children per week in New York City. This Mexican-Iranian-Jewish entrepreneur also teaches yoga on the side weekly and is determined to learn to play jarana (a Mexican guitar) and cajon (a Peruvian percussion instrument).
More about Sarah
Biggest obstacle overcome...
My biggest obstacle I've overcome as an entrepreneur is when I receive many "no's" and still have the ability to sel-motivate enough to get back out there and aim for a "yes."
Biggest vice...
Procrastination and chocolate.
Biggest advice for others...
"Just go for it. Research the competition, but not too much because sometimes it debilitates you from moving forward. If you believe in it and even if you don't have all the answers, go for it anyway. You will most likely encounter some aspects of failure along the way. But as long as you don't define yourself by those failures, you will be triumphant in the end. "
What I do for fun...
Yoga, Making earrings, Dancing to house music
