Philosophy
There is no doubt that today's students and their parents are extremely focused on success: from getting high SAT scores, writing the perfect college application essay, and getting into the best college to creating the perfect resume and cover letter, getting the right internship, and being hired by the right company for the right job.
But there's a problem with this method of success-seeking. Getting into the right school or landing the perfect job based on good grades and test scores by definition only works for the small minority at the top of the class. Equally intelligent students who do not have the desire or aptitude to get high grades or test scores either give up on the system or find themselves in a rat race trying to fit a ‘square’ into a ‘circle’. For them, excelling in school is like David arm-wrestling Goliath instead of using a sling shot.
The central premise of Extreme Entrepreneurship is that the same strategies that are proven in the business world can help ALL students create lives of passion, purpose, and prosperity. Students are the product and they must differentiate themselves and find their unique competitive advantages to get into their dreams schools and jobs. Imagine if Michael Dell, while launching Dell Computers, had copied exactly what his competitors were doing. He would have quickly gone out of business! Instead, Dell identified its strengths and matched them to opportunities in the market, leading it to massive success. For entrepreneurs, it is clear that a competitive advantage is needed to survive and thrive. Oddly, millions of students are unaware of this basic strategy and its application to the college and job markets.
