More about Joanna

Biggest obstacle overcome...

I am not ashamed to admit, and actually a bit grateful that I was naïve leaving everything to start philoSophie’s with the business plan and market research I had at the time. I’ve been building it and changing my plan everyday since my last paycheck written by someone else. I think the instability and lack of knowledge of what I was getting myself into has helped to create my success. You can take a lot of concepts and knowledge from other business people and text books but it’s my own efforts that I have learned the most. I’ve made mistakes, a lot of mistakes – but from everything whether it was a good or bad business decision – I’ve learned. I am young and independent and with only my financial responsibilities. It’s been the time of my life to see what I’ve been capable of doing and I sometimes forget to step back and see where I’ve come since drawing each card by hand!

Biggest vice...

Being impatient with my goals. I am my worst critic and when I am working on philoSophie’s I often forget to step back and realize that everyday is a gift and that everything will come together.

Biggest advice for others...

Never doubt yourself. Only you know what is best for you. If your gut is telling you ‘it’s good’ , well then ‘it’s good!’. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t do it!!

What I do for fun...

I love to just hang out with my friends and family. Relax, paint, and take photographs….. When you’re an entrepreneur business never really closes, but that’s the fun of it. You’re constantly coming up with your next idea.

Most embarrassing business moment...

Hmm, I am a very humorous person, so I’m not sure I can think of a most embarrassing moment because I usually just try to roll with awkward situations
